TTArtisan Releases 35mm T2.1 Cine Lens: Manual Full-Frame Prime with Dual Bokeh Switch

TTArtisan has released its new 35mm T2.1 cine lens that stands out with a creative and unconventional feature: a mechanical bokeh switch that lets users choose between two distinct out-of-focus rendering styles—“Soft” and “Bubble.” Designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, the lens is available in Sony E, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and L-mount versions.

The TTArtisan 35mm T2.1 signature feature is a toggle on the barrel that allows users to instantly shift the aesthetic of the background blur. In “Bubble” mode, bokeh highlights take on a defined, vintage-like soap-bubble appearance, while “Soft” mode results in a creamier, more cinematic background. This is the first lens from TTArtisan—or any brand at this price point—to allow such a binary switch between two fixed bokeh styles on the fly.

Technically, the lens is optimized for cinema use with a declicked aperture ranging from T2.1 to T22, standard 0.8 mod gears for follow-focus systems, and fully manual operation with no electronic contacts. Its focus throw also changes depending on the bokeh mode: “Soft” mode offers a precise 313° rotation for smooth focusing, while “Bubble” mode shortens the throw to 131°, favouring quicker adjustments. Minimum focusing distance is also affected, with “Soft” mode allowing focus as close as 0.28 meters and Bubble mode requiring at least 0.55 meters.

An example of the two rendering styles: the upper pictures are taken in “Bubble” mode, the lower ones in”Soft” mode.

Built from aviation-grade aluminium, the lens houses 10 elements in 7 groups and uses an 11-blade diaphragm to support smooth highlight rendering. It supports 82mm filters and weighs between 669g and 735g, depending on the mount. Its compact design—ranging from 79mm to 83mm in length—makes it well-suited for handheld rigs or gimbal setups.

Priced at $380, the lens is already available.
