Lomography Launches LomoApparat Alexanderplatz Edition
Austrian company Lomography has introduced a new version of its LomoApparat camera, the Alexanderplatz Edition, a 35mm film camera distinguished by its unique design and creative potential. This edition features a combination of silver-coloured plastic and black textured leather, as a tribute to Berlin’s iconic Alexanderplatz square. The camera retains the original LomoApparat’s 21mm wide-angle lens and fixed f/10 aperture, delivering an analog aesthetic characterized by strong vignetting, rich contrast, and saturated tones—hallmarks of Lomography’s visual philosophy developed over the past thirty years.
Designed to be accessible to photographers of all experience levels, the Alexanderplatz Edition combines point-and-shoot simplicity with a suite of experimental features. It includes a built-in flash and a coloured gel filter slider compatible with red, yellow, blue and green filters, enabling creative lighting effects. Additionally, the package comes with a set of interchangeable lens attachments: a 0.2-meter close-up lens for intimate shots, a kaleidoscope lens for surreal visual effects, and a Splitzer lens for composing layered, multi-exposure images. The Splitzer can divide the frame into four distinct sections, allowing users to create analog image collages directly in-camera.
Lomography underlines the wide range of possibilities given by the camera, pushing for users’ experimentation: “The built-in flash and flash filter slider with interchangeable coloured filters encourage playful experimentation. For those eager to push the boundaries of artistic expression, the MX switch enables seamless multiple exposures, and the Bulb shooting mode is ideal for capturing neon-lit nights and chaotic light trails.”.
