7Artisans Releases AF 24mm f/1.8 Lens for Sony E-Mount
7Artisans has officially released its AF 24mm f/1.8 lens for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras, expanding its autofocus lens lineup with a wide-angle prime suitable for a variety of photographic and video applications. The lens features a bright maximum aperture of f/1.8 and a minimum of f/16 and covers a full-frame image circle, making it a viable choice for landscapes, architecture, astrophotography, environmental portraits, and general low-light shooting.
Optically, the lens is constructed of 14 elements arranged in 11 groups. This includes two aspherical elements, two high-refractive index elements, and three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, which together contribute to minimizing distortion, chromatic aberration and colour fringing while delivering consistent edge-to-edge sharpness. The aperture diaphragm is composed of 11 blades and operates via a de-clicked aperture ring, facilitating smooth exposure adjustments for video work.
Autofocus is driven by a stepping motor (STM), which provides quiet focusing suitable for both photography and video applications. The lens supports full-time manual focus override and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.32 meters. While it lacks image stabilization, the 24mm f/1.8 is compatible with in-body stabilization systems found on many Sony mirrorless cameras.
Physically, the lens is constructed from metal and weighs 424 grams. It measures 92 mm in length with a diameter of 72 mm and supports standard 62 mm screw-in filters. The design includes a USB-C port integrated into the lens mount for firmware updates. A customizable function button is also present for added operational flexibility.
The 7Artisans AF 24mm f/1.8 is available in Sony E-mount and will be later on offered for L and Z mounts. Shipping, with a lens hood the lens is priced at $329 USD and is available now.
