Falcam Releases Carbon Fiber TreeRoot Tripods
Chinese company Falcam has introduced two new tripod models under the TreeRoot series: the TreeRoot Quick Lock Lite and the TreeRoot Quick Lock Pro, both prioritizing portability and structural performance while using lightweight carbon fiber materials.
At a cheaper price, the Quick Lock Lite version is built with T300 carbon fiber with nine-layer reinforcement, resulting in a 1.3mm thick tubing structure supporting a static vertical load of up to 40 kilograms. The legs can be adjusted with one hand through a one-third rotation mechanism, allowing rapid deployment.
When folded, the Quick Lock Lite measures 472 millimeters in length and weighs approximately 1.3 kilograms. Its maximum extended height is 1.53 meters, while the minimum height is 185 millimeters without the center column. Additional design features include interchangeable feet, magnetic tool storage, a lever-controlled quick-release ball head, two 1/4-inch Arri accessory mounting points, a hook for counterweights and adjustable leg tension.
The Quick Lock Pro instead extends up to two meters, depending on the head used, and has a folded length of 519 millimeters. It utilizes a Reuleaux triangle tube profile to enhance torsional rigidity while maintaining a low weight of 1.7 kilograms, supporting a static vertical load capacity of up to 50 kilograms thanks to its wide, large-diameter carbon fiber tubes. Unlike the Lite version, it omits a center column to reduce vibration and improve stability, but includes triangle-shaped legs to further enhance structural integrity on uneven terrain.
Its locking system allows for deployment and retraction through a one-third twist, streamlining setup. The tripod includes a 3/8-inch screw for universal head compatibility and comes equipped with a panoramic ball head featuring a locking trigger. The quick-release mechanism automatically secures the plate once inserted. This design accommodates both horizontal panoramic and vertical shooting configurations.
The Quick Lock Lite is priced starting at $399.99 for the legs, with a version featuring a center column and ball head also available at $499.99. The Quick Lock Pro model is positioned at a higher price point, starting at $699.99 for the legs alone. A compatible head, the Falcam F38 Pro Quick Release Low Gravity Dual Panorama Ball Head, is also available starting at $249.
