Viltrox Adds 65mm Macro and 135mm Telephoto to Epic Anamorphic Lens Line

Viltrox has expanded its Epic anamorphic cinema lens series with two new PL-mount models: the 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33X and the 135mm T2.4 1.33X. These additions complete Chinese company’s the lineup, which now spans focal lengths from 25mm to 135mm. Both lenses maintain the 1.33X anamorphic squeeze ratio and are designed for full-frame sensors, offering a consistent toolset for professional cinematography.

The Epic 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33X PL introduces macro capability to the Epic series, a feature uncommon in anamorphic optics. With a 1:4 magnification ratio, a minimum focusing distance of 0.4 meters and a 290° focus rotation, the lens supports detailed close-up work while retaining classic anamorphic traits. The lens produces oval bokeh, minimal focus breathing and a 2.35:1 de-squeezed image when used with a 16:9 sensor. The optical design emphasizes edge-to-edge sharpness and a smooth transition between in-focus and out-of-focus areas. Mechanical features include standard 0.8 MOD gearing on both focus and iris rings, a 95mm front diameter and focus marks in feet. The lens is constructed for compatibility with cine rigs and is balanced for efficient lens changes during production.

The Epic 135mm T2.4 1.33X PL extends the telephoto reach of the series. It offers a minimum focusing distance of 1 meter and maintains a constant image circle of 46mm across its aperture range (T2.4 to T22). Like the 65mm, the 135mm lens includes standard cine features such as 0.8 MOD gearing and a 95mm front. It is designed to compress space and isolate subjects while preserving optical uniformity with the rest of the Epic line. This lens also features oval bokeh, suppressed focus breathing, and renders the same 2.35:1 anamorphic field of view.

Both lenses maintain consistent mechanical design and gear placement with other Epic models, simplifying swaps on set without requiring recalibration. The series also offers three flare options—Clean, Silver and Blue—for visual customization. The housing follows a standardized white finish used across the series. Each lens is priced at $4,299 and ships in air-travel-certified protective cases.
