Chinese company Nanlite has introduced a new projection attachment designed for its FM mount LED spotlights. The FM Mount Projection Attachment 18°–36° (model PJ-FMM-18-36) is an optical accessory that provides an adjustable beam angle ranging from 18 to 36 degrees, designed to enable precise beam placement while improving illuminance output and maintaining uniformity across the field of projection.

The optical system utilizes aspherical glass elements to reduce aberrations and enhance clarity: according to manufacturer data, the projection attachment achieves beam uniformity of 97% and correlated color temperature (CCT) accuracy of 96%, with a distortion rate of 3% when used at the 18° setting. In addition, a multi-layer lens coating improves light transmission and minimizes color shift, while the matte-black inner barrel is designed to suppress internal reflections and stray light.

Zoom adjustment is performed via a dedicated ring located on the lens barrel. The device, whose overall housing consists of aluminum alloy and nylon, incorporates a yoke that allows for a wide range of tilt movement when mounted with a light fixture, and it supports installation on stands equipped with either a junior receiver or a baby pin.

By concentrating the light beam, the attachment is capable of increasing the illuminance output of compatible COB fixtures by up to 21 times. Unlike fixed-angle lenses, its adjustable beam angle allows users to modify the size and intensity of the projection without changing the lens, which may help reduce setup time on set. The Nanlite projection attachment’s lens barrel can rotate 360 degrees, supporting the alignment of gobos and shutter effects.
