Portkeys Announces LS7P On-Camera Monitor
Chinese company Portkeys has officially introduced the LS7P, a 7-inch on-camera monitor. The monitor features a 1920×1080 resolution touchscreen with a 10-bit (8+2 FRC) panel, 1000 nits of brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. The display offers an 80-degree viewing angle and supports both on-screen and output LUT application. The unit is constructed from aluminum, weighs 409 grams and measures 176.2 x 103.8 x 39.3 mm.
The LS7P supports HDMI and 3G-SDI video input and output, both capable of handling up to 1080p60 signals, located on the left and right sides of the unit SDI-to-HDMI cross-conversion is also available. Additional I/O includes a USB-A port for LUTs and firmware and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The monitor supports up to 20 custom 3D LUTs and various anamorphic de-squeeze options, ranging from standard formats (1.33x to 2.0x) to a fully adjustable 0.25x–4.0x ratio.
Monitoring tools include false color (13-level, ARRI-style), zebra, waveform (RGB and luma), vectorscope, luma histogram, focus peaking with adjustable frame, zoom assist and a vertical stretch mode for vertical shooting. The unit also provides freeze frame capture for shot comparison, including use cases like stop-motion. For framing aids, the LS7P features grids, guides, crosshairs, rectangle crop and check field. Audio meters and extensive image adjustment options are included (backlight, black level, sharpness, tint, HDR/HLG, flip H/V, etc.).
The LS7P operates on the MOVNORM OS and includes four assignable physical buttons, a touchscreen lock and three 1/4″-20 mounting points (top, bottom, right) with locating pins. Power is supplied either by a single NP-F battery for up to 3.5 hours or via a DC barrel connector (7–24V). On the back is a rotatable dummy NP-F battery plate that allows 8V/10W passthrough to power accessories such as wireless video receivers.
The monitor supports wireless camera control for several mirrorless and cinema cameras from ARRI, RED, Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Blackmagic Design. Supported controls include aperture, ISO, shutter speed, white balance and internal ND filters. Select Sony and Canon models (e.g., FX3, FX6, a7S III, EOS C80/C400) allow direct touch-to-focus via the monitor.
A distinguishing feature of the LS7P is its “one-to-many” control system, which enables a master monitor to wirelessly control up to four other compatible Portkeys monitors within a 50-meter range. This feature functions independently of camera brand and supports simultaneous control over settings like aperture, ISO and focus points. Compatible monitors include the LH7P, LH5PII, BM7IIDS and BM5IV WR.
The LS7P also includes a new Log Stops exposure mode, which identifies the camera’s LOG signal and divides it into exposure zones based on dynamic range. At launch, this function is only compatible with Sony cameras, with broader compatibility expected through future firmware updates.
The Portkeys LS7P is available for preorder at $449 USD. Included in the package are a protective case, a straight 2.4GHz antenna, a USB stick, cleaning wipes, two screen protectors and a D-Tap to locking DC cable. Shipping is expected to start by the end of August.
