Nanlite Launches Compact Lumo LED for Smartphones

NANLITE has introduced the lumo, a compact foldable light designed primarily for smartphone use. The device weighs 63 grams and measures 6.84 × 6.52 × 1.4 centimeters when folded, making it smaller than the palm of a hand, and can be used directly attached to MagSafe-compatible phones or with other devices through an included magnetic ring.

The  is constructed with a metal body and is available in two finishes, Mint Blue and Polar Black. Its dual-hinge design allows it to function not only as a fill light but also as a phone stand for hands-free use or as a grip for handheld shooting. The light’s ring-shaped illumination is intended to create a soft, even glow with visible catchlights in the eyes, a feature commonly sought after in portrait and selfie applications.

According to NANLITE, the lumo employs LED chips with a color rendering index averaging 97 and a TLCI value of 98, ensuring accurate reproduction of tones and textures. Illumination settings are controlled through a single button: a short press cycles through four brightness levels, while a long press changes between three available color temperatures.

Power is supplied by an integrated lithium battery, with operation times ranging from 75 minutes to 5.5 hours depending on brightness and color temperature. The device is recharged via a USB-C port, compatible with wall chargers, power banks, or direct connection to a smartphone.

The lumo light caters to the needs of content creators, travelers and casual users who require lightweight and adaptable lighting, and is now available for $39.90.
