Meike Introduces 35mm f/1.8 Pro Lens Across Multiple Mounts

Meike has released the 35mm f/1.8 Pro, a full-frame autofocus prime lens available for Nikon Z, L-mount and Sony E-mount systems.

The lens was first shown at the China International Photographic Equipment and Electrical Imaging Machinery and Technology Fair earlier this year, where it attracted attention as one of the more anticipated announcements. It is part of the Chinese company’s Pro Series and incorporates its NanoDrive Precision Silent Drive system paired with an STM stepping motor.

Optically, the Meike 35mm f/1.8 Pro consists of 12 elements arranged in 10 groups, including three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements. A multi-layer nano coating is applied to suppress flare and ghosting. It reaches a maximum aperture of f/1.8, controlled by a nine-bladed diaphragm, supporting shallow depth of field effects and improved performance in low-light conditions. The company also highlights minimal focus breathing, a feature intended to benefit videographers.

The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.35 meters, making it adaptable for subjects ranging from wider environmental scenes to closer portrait-style work. On APS-C cameras, it provides a field of view equivalent to approximately 52mm.

The physical design includes an aperture control ring, an autofocus/manual focus switch and a standard 58mm filter thread. A USB-C port allows for firmware updates, and the lens is sealed against dust and moisture. Weight varies slightly by mount: 400 grams for Sony E, 404 grams for Nikon Z and 399 grams for L-mount.

The Meike 35mm f/1.8 Pro is priced at $379 and is now available for purchase.
