Sirui Releases New 35mm f/1.4 for Aurora Series

During IBC 2025 in Amsterdam, Sirui officially presented the Aurora 35mm f/1.4, the second lens in its developing lineup of lightweight autofocus primes, following the Aurora 85mm f/1.4 that was released earlier this year. According to the company, the Aurora family is planned to include five different focal lengths in total, with the 35mm representing an important step toward building a compact and relatively affordable set of lenses aimed at hybrid shooters.

The new lens is designed for full-frame cameras and will be offered in Sony E, Nikon Z, Leica L, and Fujifilm X mounts. Despite being constructed from metal, it weighs approximately 490 grams depending on the mount, which places it among the lighter lenses in its class. The optical scheme consists of 14 elements arranged in multiple groups, including one SED ultra-low dispersion element, two ED elements, one high refractive index element, and three aspherical elements. These are complemented by nano multi-coating, a treatment intended to reduce flare and ghosting while maintaining contrast across the frame. The lens also supports the use of 62mm front filters.

Autofocus is handled by a stepping motor, and the lens is compatible with the eye- and subject-tracking systems of the camera mounts it is offered for, which makes it suited to both stills and video use.

The Aurora 35mm f/1.4 is being released in parallel with Sirui’s strategic expansion. The company, founded in 2001 in Guangdong, China, initially established itself as a manufacturer of tripods before diversifying into lenses and other optical equipment. In 2025, Sirui became the ninth member of the L-Mount Alliance, joining Leica’s mirrorless standard and thereby increasing compatibility across multiple camera systems. As mentioned, the company has stated that the Aurora line will be extended beyond the current 35mm and 85mm models, with wider focal lengths and longer telephoto versions already in development for release in 2026.

Pricing for the new lens has been set at $549 for the Sony E-mount version, with other mounts expected to follow shortly after. Unlike previous Sirui lens projects that were introduced through crowdfunding platforms, the Aurora 35mm f/1.4 will is distributed through conventional direct sales channels.
