Peak Design Releases New Field Plate and Form Straps

Peak Design has unveiled two new additions to its camera accessory ecosystem: the Field Plate, a redesigned quick-release camera mounting plate that eliminates the need for tools, and the Form series, a new line of minimalist camera straps available in both rope and leather versions.

The Field Plate replaces the long-standing Standard Plate, which was widely used across Peak Design’s product lineup but often criticized for requiring a hex key during installation. The new version retains full compatibility with Peak Design’s Capture Clip, tripods, and straps, as well as most third-party Arca-type tripod heads. What distinguishes it is a newly engineered pop-up thumb-drive mechanism that allows photographers to secure or remove the plate entirely by hand. A single press releases the screw, which can then be tightened or loosened with a simple twist, removing the need for coins, keys, or small tools in the field. The plate is CNC-machined from anodized aluminum, connects via a standard 1/4-20″ thread, and includes four anchor loops for attaching Peak Design straps. It weighs slightly less than the previous model and maintains the brand’s slim profile and clean aesthetic. The Field Plate retails for around $40 and is available now through Peak Design’s website.

Alongside it, the American company introduced the Form Strap collection, its most minimal and refined line of camera straps to date. The straps are built around the company’s Anchor Link quick-connection system but feature a redesigned, low-profile integration that removes visible stitching, O-rings, and bulky hardware.

The Form Rope Strap is made from a custom nylon-polyester braided blend that combines tensile strength with flexibility and a slight degree of stretch, while the Form Leather Strap uses premium full-grain ECCO leather paired with machined aluminum hardware and a sealed underside for smooth movement and controlled grip. Both designs can support up to 90 kilograms and are available in several fixed lengths suited for neck, shoulder, or cross-body carry. The rope straps come in black, ocean blue, and kelp green, while the leather versions are available in black, tan, and amber.

“For more than a decade, photographers around the world have trusted our quick-connecting camera straps, and it’s incredible to spot our little red Anchor Links almost everywhere cameras are carried,” said Peak Design CEO and Founder Peter Dering.

“The new Form straps are our distillation of that heritage into something streamlined, premium, and classic. And while we were at it, we took a fresh look at the humble tripod plate, resulting in the new Field Plate, which makes mounting your camera as simple as using your thumb,” Dering continues.

Matching wrist straps, known as the Form Cuff Rope and Form Cuff Leather, complete the lineup. Prices range from approximately $39 for the rope wrist strap to $79 for the full-length leather models, depending on size and material.
