SanDisk Introduces Tiny 1TB USB-C Flash Drive

SanDisk has introduced the Extreme Fit USB-C flash drive, a device the American company positions as the smallest 1TB USB-C storage unit currently available. The drive is designed to remain plugged into a host device, functioning as semi-permanent storage rather than as a traditional external SSD. Its dimensions—approximately 18.5 × 15.7 × 13.6 mm—and weight of 3 grams make it comparable in size to a compact wireless dongle, allowing it to sit nearly flush when connected to a laptop or tablet. The connector orientation is L-shaped, raising the body slightly upward to keep the footprint minimal, though it protrudes enough to avoid conflict with a closing laptop lid.

The drive uses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and delivers read speeds of up to 400 MB/s for capacities from 128GB to 1TB, with the 64GB model reduced to around 300 MB/s. These figures are adequate for transferring documents, photos, and general media files, as well as for basic backups, but they are not intended for sustained high-bandwidth tasks such as video editing or heavy scratch-disk workloads. Faster portable SSDs exist, though none in a similar size class.

Compatibility includes Windows 10 and later, macOS 12 and later, and iPadOS 15 and later, provided the device supports USB-C storage. The drive also integrates with the SanDisk Memory Zone app for file management and backup functions on Windows and macOS.

The company includes a five-year limited warranty across the lineup.

The Extreme Fit is available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions. Availability depends on the region, with the smallest capacities not offered in every market. Pricing starts at $14.99 for the 64GB model and goes up to $109.99 for the 1TB one.
