Google Unveils Pixel 10a Smartphone

Google has introduced the Pixel 10a, the latest model in its mid-range smartphone line. The Pixel series, launched in 2016 as Google’s fully in-house hardware initiative following the Nexus program, has consistently emphasized tight integration between hardware, Android software, and the company’s artificial intelligence services. Over time, the lineup expanded to include higher-end Pro variants and more affordable “a” models, which typically retain key features while limiting hardware changes.

The Pixel 10a adopts a revised exterior design with a completely flat back panel and a camera module that sits flush with the chassis, eliminating the raised camera bar seen on previous generations. The device maintains an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and uses a frame made from 100% recycled aluminum, along with an 81% recycled plastic rear cover. Google states that recycled cobalt, copper, gold, and tungsten are also used in its construction. The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The display is a 6.3-inch pOLED Actua panel that Google claims is 11% brighter than the previous generation. It reaches up to 2,000 nits in full-screen brightness and peaks at 3,000 nits in high-brightness scenarios. Internally, the device continues to use the Tensor G4 processor, the same chipset found in the prior model, a decision Google attributes to cost control. The phone ships with Android 16 and is scheduled to receive seven years of software and security updates.

The rear camera system consists of a 48-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. This configuration mirrors that of the previous generation, not including a telephoto lens. The front-facing camera, instead, is 13 megapixels with an f/2.2 aperture. Video recording is supported at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on the rear cameras and 4K at 30 frames per second on the front camera. Additional features include Macro Focus, Night Sight, and several AI-based tools integrated into the camera and Google Photos applications. These include Auto Best Take, which merges multiple group shots to optimize facial expressions, and Camera Coach, which provides composition guidance using Google’s Gemini models.

Battery capacity is 5,100mAh, with Google estimating more than 30 hours of typical use and up to 120 hours in Extreme Battery Saver mode. The device supports wired charging up to 30W with a 45W adapter sold separately, as well as 10W Qi wireless charging.

The Pixel 10a is available for pre-order and is scheduled to begin shipping on March 5. It is available in Obsidian and Fog, as well as Lavender and Berry color options, and priced at $499 in the United States and €549 in Europe for the base configuration.
