Vivo Announces X300 Ultra Global Launch

Vivo has introduced the X300 Ultra, a flagship smartphone centered on imaging capabilities developed in collaboration with Zeiss. The device was initially previewed during Mobile World Congress 2026 and later launched in China, with a broader international release now planned.

The X300 Ultra is built around a multi-camera system that combines several fixed focal lengths with optional external optics. The rear camera array includes a 14 mm ultra-wide module, a 35 mm main camera, and an 85 mm telephoto unit, all based on high-resolution sensors. The primary sensor is a 200-megapixel unit paired with a 35 mm equivalent lens, a focal length less common in smartphones, which typically favor wider perspectives. The telephoto camera also uses a 200-megapixel sensor and incorporates optical stabilization designed to compensate for motion during handheld shooting.

A defining element of the system is the compatibility with external telephoto accessories. The Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra adds an additional optical module that extends the focal length to approximately 400 mm equivalent, thus placing the system in a range more commonly associated with dedicated telephoto lenses used in wildlife or sports photography. The extender works in combination with the internal telephoto camera, relying on optical magnification rather than digital zoom, while image processing and stabilization remain managed by the device. With additional cropping, the effective focal range can extend significantly further.

The camera system is supported by a color processing pipeline designed to handle tonal rendering and color accuracy at the sensor level. A multispectral sensor array contributes to scene analysis, allowing adjustments based on ambient light conditions. The device also includes predefined color profiles and customizable settings, enabling different rendering approaches for both still images and video.

Video recording is supported across all rear cameras, including 4K capture at high frame rates with 10-bit Log encoding. The system is compatible with professional post-production workflows such as ACES, and allows the application of LUTs during recording. Audio capture is handled by a multi-microphone system with selectable recording profiles intended to isolate specific sound sources.

In addition to imaging, the X300 Ultra integrates high-end mobile hardware, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 6600 mAh battery with fast charging support, and a high-resolution display with HDR capabilities. The device is also compatible with accessories such as external rigs and stabilizers designed to extend its use in video production contexts.

The smartphone is currently available in China, with pricing starting at approximately 6,999 yuan. Vivo has indicated that the X300 Ultra will be released in international markets, representing a broader distribution compared to previous models in the same series.
