Brightin Star Reveals the Aero UV Filter Series
Brightin Star, a Chinese optical manufacturer known primarily for its prime lenses, has expanded into the camera accessory market with the launch of the Aero UV Filter series. The lineup was first presented at NAB 2026 and is now commercially available.
The filters are built around a 1.5mm ultra-slim brass frame, a construction choice that serves two purposes: reducing the risk of vignetting on wide-angle lenses and keeping the overall weight to a minimum — the 39mm variant weighs four grams. Brass was selected over aluminum for its higher hardness and a thermal expansion coefficient approximately 20% lower, which the company says contributes to more stable threading and reduced risk of filter jamming.
At the optical core, each filter uses German-made Schott B270 glass, precision-ground from a standard 1.1mm thickness to 0.7mm. The glass is treated with a 28-layer double-sided Nano IMC anti-reflective coating and edge coatings designed to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting. Brightin Star states that the resulting light transmission reaches 99.807%, with a reflectivity of 0.048%. An additional Nano AF coating provides water and oil repellency, reducing fingerprint adhesion and simplifying maintenance. The also frame carries a “Clous de Paris and Starburst” knurling pattern intended to improve grip during installation and removal.
The Aero UV Filter series is positioned as a protective accessory rather than a creative optical tool, aimed at photographers seeking to preserve front element integrity without introducing measurable degradation to image quality. The frames are available in black and silver finishes, with introductory pricing running from $27 to $69 depending on filter size, valid through May 15, after which regular pricing will be $32 to $79.
