Brightin Star Unveils 7.5mm Fisheye Lens for APS-C

Brightin Star has announced the 7.5mm f/2.8 IV, a manual-focus fisheye lens designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. The lens offers a 190-degree field of view, which exceeds the range of many fisheye designs and produces the strong perspective distortion and curved rendering characteristic of the format. It will be available for Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, Canon EF-M, and Micro Four Thirds mounts, in both black and silver finishes.

The optical construction consists of 11 elements in 8 groups, incorporating three extra-low dispersion elements and three high-refractive elements. According to the Chinese company, these elements are intended to reduce chromatic aberration, flare, and distortion artifacts that tend to become more pronounced with ultra-wide fisheye designs. The aperture range runs from f/2.8 to f/16, and the five-blade diaphragm produces 10-point starburst effects around bright light sources. The aperture ring is de-clicked, allowing smooth adjustments during video use.

On APS-C sensors, the 7.5mm focal length corresponds to a full-frame equivalent of approximately 11.3mm. The minimum focusing distance is 0.15 meters, allowing subjects to be positioned very close to the front element. Since the protruding front element rules out conventional front-mounted filters, the lens instead provides a rear filter thread and ships with an included ND filter, enabling long exposures without external filter systems. The lens includes a built-in lens hood

The lens weighs 274 grams and has no electronic autofocus system. Users will need to enable the “release without lens” setting in their camera to operate it. Photographers intending to use the fisheye rendering for more conventional ultra-wide compositions can apply lens correction profiles in software such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop to reduce the characteristic distortion.
