RugOne Discloses the Xsnap 7 Pro With Detachable Action Camera
RugOne unveiled the Xsnap 7 Pro at IFA 2026 in Berlin, a rugged smartphone with a detachable action camera module — a combination the company describes as a modular imaging system and that has no direct precedent in the consumer market.
The device is built around a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display running at 120Hz, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G chipset with 512GB of internal storage. The body carries IP68 and IP69 ratings and is certified to withstand 30 minutes of submersion at two meters and drops of up to 1.5 meters onto concrete. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the front panel. The smartphone portion of the camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera using a Samsung GN9 image sensor and a 64-megapixel infrared night vision camera based on an OV64B1B sensor — a rear-facing module for low-light and no-light imaging without additional illumination.
The action camera module is the product’s defining feature: the 39-gram unit attaches to the smartphone body via magnets and detaches for independent use, mounting to helmets, handlebars, or other surfaces — including a supplied pendant — through the same magnetic interface. It is waterproof to five meters without any additional housing. The module records 2.7K video at 30fps with a 133-degree field of view through a Type 1/2.7 sensor, and resolution tops out at 2,560 × 1,440 pixels — approximately 3.7 megapixels — and files are recorded in MP4 format only, with no RAW option. Image stabilization is handled by what RugOne calls SteadyX algorithms alongside Horizon Lock. When detached, the module operates autonomously for up to 40 minutes on its own power, recharging when reconnected to the smartphone body. Control and monitoring are available remotely through the Xsnap Go app at distances of up to 50 meters.
The Xsnap 7 Pro runs Android 16 with Google Gemini and RugOne’s own AI suite. Global retail availability begins in October 2026, at €1,099.99 in Europe and $999 in the United States.
