About me

I try and capture events associated with life ranging from any cultural tradition, a simple portrait, a street moment to a festival for that matter. Hence call me a “real life photographer”.I have been associated with this field for more than 5 years, gradually building on my observation, persistence and proficiency as a photographer. Occasionally I also like playing with patterns amalgamating human relief points in them. Mycontribution and achievements received acknowledgment and distinction by photographic bodies across the globe:➢ Excellence FIP (India);➢ Artiste FIAP (Belgium);➢ GPA. PESGSPC , Hon. PESGSPC (Cyprus);➢ BEPSS (Singapore);➢ Hon. CPE, Artist. CPE (Romania) and➢ Hon. FSAP (India)I am a contributing photographer to Alamy, iStock Getty Images, Eyeem, Dreamstime etc. and a life member of the “Federation of Indian Photography”, the national photography body in India.A perspective that holds the key to my global recognition from over 45 countries like India, Serbia, UK, Singapore, Romania, Scotland, Wales, Turkey, Switzerland, Russia, Hong Kong, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine, Czech Republic and many more lies in a phenomenal frame conceptualisation by one’s eye even before it goes on reel . I believe I am competent in capturing high-quality, aesthetically astounding photographs that reflect my confidence and professionalism.Achievements➢ Winner of multiple awards, accolades from International & National level contests.➢ Jury member for 4 International Photo Competitions.➢ Winner “World Photography Day Contest” 2018 organized by Photography Club of India➢ Winner “World Photography Day Contest” 2018 organized by Sigma Academy of Photography,Hyderabad, India➢ ‘Award of Merit’ from Photographic Society of America (PSA) PID Image of the Year 2017 Competition➢ Winner of 3rd International Exhibition 2019 by “Calcutta Journalists Club”➢ 2nd. 3rd position and Honorable Mentions in the PSA Photojournalism Quarterly contests.➢ 4 Images part of the Kolkata International Photography Festival 2019➢ Finalist for ‘The Weather Photographer’ of the year 2017, UKPhotograph exhibited at IUCN World Conservation Congress in Hawaii.➢ Published on various websites (like National Geographic YourShot, Dodho, 1x, 121clicks, Life Force Magazine, 35Awards, MWMag etc.), print media in UK (N-Photo Magazine) and Hungry Eye Journal.➢ State winner of nation-wide photography contest, critically acclaimed by the Limca Book of RecordsLinks of some of my published documentary projects –• https://www.frsthand.com/story/life-and-lines-a-fine-balance• https://www.dodho.com/muharram-festival-debarshi-mukherjee/• http://121clicks.com/photo-stories/the-muharram-red-photo-series-by-debarshi-mukherjee• http://121clicks.com/photo-stories/mahakali-bonalu-festival-by-debarshi-mukherjee• http://lifeforcemagazine.com/22.htm• https://www.dodho.com/inferno-by-debarshi-mukherjee/• http://121clicks.com/photo-stories/kolkata-bagree-market-fire-by-debarshi-mukherjeeLink to personal website / social media channel / blog: https://www.facebook.com/debarshi.mukherjee.58INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUBMITTED PHOTOGRAPHTitle of the photograph: Destructive DownpourBrief statement of the photograph: The shot highlights a waterlogged street in Kolkata due to incessant rains from a deep depression in Bay of Bengal, during Kali Puja. As the city battles out the rain and water logging, these hand pulled rickshaws go about their daily routine of transporting passengers from one place to the other. Apparently to the invisible eye, it appears that only the rickshaw pullers fight the adversities of weather to earn their daily living. But it is a far bigger battle, a much bigger war that wages. More and more extreme weather events frequent the city at times when they are least expected. People have to face this, with clenched teeth, as if simply victims of dark fate.Is the photograph part of a series of photographs or a photographic project?: NoLink to the referred project/series:Has the photograph already been published or rewarded?: YesExplain where and when and provide a link to the referred prize orpublication: Awarded and published on multiple platforms.
