About me
Jahir Ahmed Shakil is a documentary photographer and visual storyteller from Bangladesh, whose work deeply explores the lives of coastal communities, laborers, and marginalized groups affected by climate change and socio-economic hardship. From an early age, he developed a strong sense of empathy toward the underrepresented, which later shaped his journey into visual storytelling. Shakil believes that each photograph carries a narrative — not just to be seen, but to be felt. His images are a reflection of humanity, struggle, hope, and a call for change.
Throughout his career, he has ventured into remote and vulnerable areas of Bangladesh, seeking not just to document beauty but to delve into the raw truths that often remain hidden. His photographs serve as a bridge between unseen realities and the consciousness of a wider audience. Through his lens, he initiates a dialogue about the intimate connection between people, nature, and the passage of time.
Currently, Jahir Ahmed Shakil is expanding his archive and aspires to work on international platforms, bringing crucial issues like climate change, human resilience, and social justice to the forefront. He envisions his photography as a tool to awaken empathy, inspire awareness, and spark meaningful action.
