Maria Tsikala was born in Augbourg in Germany 1977. She lived and grew up in Sises , Mylopotamos in Rethymno. She studied Business Administration in Rethymno. Her love for photography urged her to start photography seminars from 2000 to 2010.She has continued the seminars in the private school of Pavlos Kapoglou until today. She attended a workshop with Mr. N. Economopoulos in August 2012 in the Black Sea. That was an interesting experience with a teacher who follows Socratic method eliciting from the student his personal photographic look leaving him free to take pictures that satisfy both the photographer and the teacher judging the result in any event. Since she was at school, Maria had a special love for poetry. She started with small blank verses with rhythn and then proceeded slowly and steadily with slightly larger poems in different rhythm. She has attended many meeting of the Poetry Group of Iraklio. Also she has attended a meeting devoted to the great poet Pessoa.
