About me

Massimiliano Iannone is a photographer based in Southern Italy, working across street photography and portraiture. Over twelve years of practice and more than forty collective exhibitions, he has developed an approach rooted in instinct rather than control — research first, then presence, then silence. He works in black and white because it isn't a filter: it's a scalpel. It strips away the decorative, leaving the structure of a gesture, a glance, a fragment of light that would otherwise go unnoticed. He shoots both analog and digital, not out of nostalgia or trend, but because each medium tells a different truth about the same instant. Influenced by theater and cinema, Iannone brings to his images the same conviction: reality is not to be beautified, but witnessed — naked, unguarded, without permission. He is drawn to people rather than scenes, to what remains unresolved rather than what resolves neatly. His photography does not aim to please. It aims to immerse — and to leave a question unanswered.
