Canon Releases RF 75-300mm Lens Alongside New EOS R100 Kit

Canon has officially announced the availability and pricing of the RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lens in the United States. Originally introduced earlier in 2025, this lens is essentially a mirrorless port of the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III from 1999.

The RF version shares the same optical design, consisting of 13 elements in 9 groups, a seven-bladed aperture diaphragm and a DC autofocus motor, but lacks image stabilization and the control ring found on many RF lenses. It has a minimum focusing distance of 1.5 meters and a maximum magnification ratio of 0.25x.

Despite being introduced as a new product, the lens maintains the same specifications as its predecessor: it weighs 507 grams, has a length of 146 millimeters and accepts 58mm front filters. The optical construction is unchanged, though it includes Canon’s Super Spectra Coating to reduce flare and improve contrast. The autofocus is driven by a micromotor, and the lens lacks features such as an aperture ring, image stabilization or weather sealing.

Canon appears to be targeting this lens at entry-level users, especially those adopting APS-C RF-mount cameras such as the EOS R50 and R100. When used on these bodies, the lens provides an effective focal length range of 120-480mm, making it suitable for distant subjects in outdoor and event photography.

The lens can be purchased alone or as part of a new Double Zoom Kit with the EOS R100. The kit, that targets users transitioning from smartphones or older DSLR systems to Canon’s mirrorless ecosystem, combines the RF 75-300mm lens with the RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens and the EOS R100 camera body.

The EOS R100 is Canon’s most compact and affordable RF-mount mirrorless camera. It features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor, DIGIC 8 image processor, Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus with face and eye detection and video capabilities that include Full HD recording at up to 60fps and cropped 4K at 24fps. The camera supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, aiming to simplify the shift for users moving from mobile photography.

The RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 is priced at $219.99, identical to the cost of the EF version, while the Double Zoom Kit costs $799.99.
