DZOFILM Introduces Arles Lustre Primes with Retro Aesthetic
Chinese company DZOFILM has introduced the Arles Lustre, a new series of full-frame cinema prime lenses. Expanding on its original Arles line, the Lustre primes are available in ten focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 180mm, with T-stop values between T1.6 and T2.8, all designed for Vista Vision and large-format sensors.
The line, inspired by traditional cinema glass, is distinguished by its unique amber coating, which adds a subtle golden halation and soft flare to create an atmosphere of warmth. Rather than totally eradicating aberrations, the optical design incorporates controlled imperfections—such as flares and ghosting— delivering clean, low-contrast images with a warm tone. According to DZOFILM, the word “Lustre” represents this deliberate shine and “poetic sharpness”: such features make the rendering ideal for indie films, historical pieces, fashion or artistic projects—any situation in which ambiance and feel take precedence over clinical precision.
Each lens in the lineup features a 16-blade aperture, contributing to smooth bokeh with no onion-ring artifacts. The wider focal lengths (14mm, 21mm, and 25mm) incorporate dual aspherical elements to minimize spherical aberration, distortion and coma, ensuring clarity across the frame even at wider apertures. Despite their creative intent, these primes maintain technical performance suitable for 12K-resolution cameras and demanding productions.
All lenses share a standardized design: a 95mm front diameter, consistent gear positioning, and compatibility with 86mm front filters (except the 14mm). Weighing between 1.4 and 1.9 kilograms, they strike a balance between robustness and portability, making them suitable for use on drones, gimbals, and handheld rigs.

The entire set is offered in a limited-edition “Desert Gold” finish, with only 100 full 10-lens kits and 50 individual lenses (25mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm) made available. Each lens ships with a native ARRI PL mount, and optional kits support Canon EF and LPL mounts, as well as DZOFILM’s KOOP rear magnetic filters.
