Fujifilm Unveils New X-T30 III Mirrorless

Fujifilm has announced the X-T30 III, the latest model in its compact, entry-level mirrorless camera line. Maintaining the same 26.1-megapixel back-illuminated APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor as its predecessor, the X-T30 II, the new model introduces the more powerful X-Processor 5, resulting in faster performance, enhanced autofocus, and improved video capabilities.

The X-T30 III continues Fujifilm’s design philosophy of combining analog-style controls with modern digital imaging. The body retains the same compact, SLR-like form factor with top-plate dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation, joined now by a dedicated Film Simulation dial. This replaces the drive mode selector found on previous models and allows users to quickly switch between Fujifilm’s 20 film simulation profiles, including the newer Reala Ace and Nostalgic Neg modes. Three custom positions on the dial enable users to save and recall personalized “recipes.”

The upgraded X-Processor 5 brings AI-based subject detection autofocus derived from Fujifilm’s higher-end cameras: using deep-learning algorithms, the camera can recognize and track humans, animals, birds, vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects, and drones. The autofocus system employs 425 phase-detection points and supports continuous shooting at up to 8 frames per second mechanically and 20 fps electronically.

Video recording has been expanded, with the X-T30 III offering 6.2K open-gate capture at up to 30 frames per second in 10-bit 4:2:2 HEVC, as well as 4K recording up to 60p and Full HD up to 240p for slow motion. The camera also supports F-Log2 for improved color grading flexibility. Open-gate recording enables full-sensor readout in the 3:2 aspect ratio, while 4K and 1080p modes use cropped regions for different frame rate options. Digital stabilization is available, though there is no in-body image stabilization.

The X-T30 III’s design remains largely unchanged from earlier models. It measures 118.4 x 82.8 x 46.8 mm, weighs 378 grams, and features a magnesium-alloy construction with a textured rubber coating. It includes a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.62x magnification and a 3-inch, 1.62-million-dot tilting touchscreen. The ergonomic layout includes dual command dials, a customizable joystick, and several programmable buttons.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, and a micro-HDMI port. The 2.5mm jack functions as both microphone and remote input, requiring an adapter for standard 3.5mm microphones. The camera can output 4:2:2 10-bit video via HDMI for external recording in formats such as ProRes RAW. It also supports direct printing to Fujifilm Instax Link printers without an app.

For storage, the X-T30 III includes a single UHS-II SD card slot and 64GB of internal memory. Power is supplied by the NP-W126S battery, rated for approximately 315 shots per charge, or 425 in economy mode. Charging and data transfer are handled through the USB-C port.
