Godox Introduces V480 Mid-Sized Versatile Flash
Godox has announced the V480 TTL Flash, a mid-range unit positioned between the company’s compact V350 and the larger V860III, offering a combination of compact design, manual and TTL control, and integrated wireless capabilities.
Weighing 361 grams including the battery, the V480 maintains a compact profile while delivering a guide number of 50 (ISO 100, 105mm). It supports High-Speed Sync (HSS) up to 1/8000s, as well as standard TTL, manual, second-curtain sync and multi flash modes. The flash head tilts from –7° to 120° and rotates 330°, enabling flexible light positioning. A motorized zoom covers focal lengths from 24 to 105mm, and the head integrates both a wide-angle diffuser and a catchlight panel for bounce and fill lighting.
Power is provided by a 7.2V 2200mAh lithium-ion battery, offering up to approximately 650 full-power flashes per charge. The recycle time is around 1.7 seconds. USB-C charging is supported. A built-in 2W LED modeling light (5300K ±300K) with 10 output levels assists in previewing lighting setups before shooting.
A 2-inch color touchscreen is included for control, alongside traditional buttons. Settings can be adjusted via touch gestures or physical inputs. One notable feature is the real-time flash range display, which visually indicates the effective lighting distance—useful when working with bounce techniques or in dynamic environments.
The V480 integrates with the Godox 2.4 GHz X wireless system and can operate as either a transmitter or a receiver. Wireless control is available up to 100 meters, with support for 32 channels and five groups. Compatibility includes Godox’s XPro II, X2, and X3 transmitters, and the flash is available in versions for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, and Panasonic systems.
The unit supports additional accessories including the AK-R1 magnetic modifier kit via the S-R2 adapter and Bowens-mount modifiers using the Godox S2 bracket, allowing for expanded light shaping.
The Godox V480 TTL is currently available for pre-order at $169. The package includes the flash unit, lithium-ion battery, USB-C cable, charger, mini flash stand, diffusion panel, carrying pouch and user manual. Shipping dates have not yet been announced.
