Mr. Ding Launches Noxlux DG 50mm f/1.2 Lens for Nikon Z-Mount
Lens manufacturer Mr. Ding has released its first Z-mount lens: the Noxlux DG 50mm f/1.2, marking the Chinese company’s expansion beyond its existing lineup, which has primarily focused on manual focus lenses for Leica M-mount systems. Previous models include the Mr. Ding 35mm f/1.8 and the Noxlux DG 50mm f/1.1. Like its predecessors, the new 50mm f/1.2 is fully manual.
The lens is a third-generation design and features several changes compared to earlier versions. Notably, the rear lens element has been enlarged to reduce vignetting and improve edge coverage, and the lens now incorporates electronic contacts to support focus assist tools on Nikon Z-mount cameras. The minimum focusing distance has been reduced from 0.7 meters in the rangefinder version to 0.45 meters in the Z-mount version, and an updated optical coating has also been applied to improve performance in backlit conditions.
Optically, the Noxlux DG 50mm f/1.2 contains eight elements in six groups, including four lanthanide glass elements. It features a 12-bladed aperture and a stepped aperture design. The housing is made of a copper-aluminum alloy and includes physical aperture and focus rings with a textured grip similar to vintage Nikon AI-S lenses. It also includes visible aperture and distance markings across the barrel and a standard 52mm filter thread.
In terms of handling, the lens weighs approximately 470 grams, excluding lens caps, making it relatively heavy for its size. There is no official statement regarding weather sealing. The lens’s aesthetics and physical form factor are in line with Nikon’s retro-styled Zf camera, making it a visual match for such system.

The Mr. Ding Noxlux DG 50mm f/1.2 is currently available at a price point of $439. A Leica M-mount version of the lens had previously retailed for $399.
