Peak Design Broadens Travel Line with New Bags

Peak Design has expanded its Travel Line with a set of new bags designed to accommodate different use cases, including carrying photographic equipment. The new lineup includes the Travel Backpack 2-in-1, Travel Backpack 20L, Travel Weekender 25L, and Travel Crossbody 3L. All products are initially being offered through a Kickstarter campaign, with a broader retail release planned for later in the year.

The central product in the range is the Travel Backpack 2-in-1, a modular system that combines a 34-liter main backpack with a detachable 16-liter daypack. When connected, the two components form a carry-on-sized bag with a total capacity of approximately 40 liters. When separated, they can be used independently, providing a combined capacity of up to 50 liters. The system is designed to support different stages of travel, with the larger pack intended for transport and the smaller daypack for daily use.

The main backpack is constructed from weather-resistant materials and includes features such as padded compartments for laptops and tablets, internal organization compatible with Peak Design’s Camera Cubes, external grab handles, and attachment points for luggage. The detachable daypack retains a similar structure but is lighter and omits some load-bearing features such as a hip belt. Both components include hidden compartments designed for tracking devices and are built to maintain structural stability during transport.

The Travel Weekender 25L represents Peak Design’s first structured duffel bag: it is designed to maintain its shape when packed, allowing easier access and organization. The bag features a wide clamshell opening, multiple internal compartments, and compatibility with packing cubes and smaller camera inserts. A folding base allows the bag to compress when not fully loaded or when placed under an airline seat. Like the backpack, it is made from weather-resistant materials and includes reinforced handles and a removable shoulder strap.

The Travel Backpack 20L is a smaller, more compact option intended for daily use or as a secondary bag during travel. It follows a similar design approach to the company’s larger travel packs but reduces capacity to between 20 and 23 liters through an expandable structure. The bag includes a padded laptop sleeve, internal organization compatible with smaller camera cubes, external straps for carrying a tripod, and hidden pockets. Its size is intended to meet airline personal item requirements while still accommodating essential gear.
