Portkeys Launches PT5 III Compact Pro Monitor

Chinese company Portkeys released the PT5 III, a compact 5.4-inch on-camera touchscreen monitor designed for filmmakers and content creators. It features an 8-bit panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1152, a peak brightness of 800 nits, and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. With a wide 178° viewing angle, the monitor is suited for use on camera rigs, small cinema setups, or gimbals.

The monitor supports HDMI input resolutions up to 4K DCI at 30p and outputs up to 1080p at 60fps. Physical connectivity includes one HDMI input, one HDMI output, a USB-C port for external power delivery, a USB-A port for firmware updates and LUT uploads, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 3.5mm microphone input. It is powered either via USB-C or a Sony NP-F style battery mounted on the back, with a power consumption of only 7W—enabling over two hours of runtime on a single NP-F550 battery.

The PT5 III is housed in a durable ABS and polycarbonate chassis, weighing just 154.5 grams and measuring 135.1 x 82.5 x 22mm. It includes two 1/4″-20 mounting threads with locating pins on the bottom and right sides, ensuring flexible attachment options.

At the core of its functionality is the Portkeys MOVNORM OS, which provides a full suite of professional monitoring tools. These include 3D LUT monitoring with HDMI LUT output, anamorphic image de-squeeze with custom aspect ratios (0.25x to 4.0x), a stretch leg tool for vertical shooting, customizable False Colour with 13 profiles (including ARRI), waveform and histogram tools for RGB and luma channels and an adjustable Zebra tool. The OS also includes image capture and overlay functions for continuity and shot matching, a built-in 360° colour grader for isolating and adjusting hue and saturation within specific image regions, as well as image flipping, zoom-in cropping, and advanced peaking controls.

Other features include framing tools (crosshair, check field, grids, guides), adjustable parameters for contrast, sharpness, brightness, tint, and colour temperature, audio meters, and HDR HLG support. The monitor is shipping with full-size and micro HDMI cables, a USB key, a sunshade, a rubber cover set, a safety box, and the MH-2 monitor mount.

The Portkeys PT5 III is currently available for purchase at $169 USD.
