SmallRig Launches CB75 Compact Base Battery

The recently released SmallRig CB75 is a base-mounted battery solution developed for mirrorless and cinema camera users seeking a compact, integrated power source. Unlike traditional V-mount or Gold mount systems, which often require adapter plates and add bulk to camera rigs, the CB75 is designed to attach directly beneath the camera body using standard 1/4″-20 mounting points, enabling it to function as both a battery and structural baseplate hence reducing the number of components in a setup.

With a capacity of 20,000mAh (73.8Wh), the CB75 can deliver extended power suitable for long-form video recording: according to internal figures, it can supply power to a Canon R5 Mark II for over six hours or a Sony a7 IV for more than seven hours during 4K video capture. It is equipped with two D-Tap ports, two USB-C ports and one DC barrel output, allowing simultaneous connection to a variety of devices including monitors, LED lights, smartphones and laptops. The USB-C ports support fast charging at up to 65W and the battery itself can be fully recharged in approximately two hours using a standard USB-C charger.

The unit incorporates a full-color LG battery-powered OLED display that provides real-time readouts of power output and battery status. Despite its power capacity, the CB75 maintains a relatively low weight of around 530 grams, which helps preserve balance in handheld shooting configurations.

One of the key design features is compatibility with Arca-Swiss standard quick release systems. When combined with the optional HawkLock H38 Arca plate, the CB75 can be attached or detached from cages and tripod plates with a single click, allowing to streamline transitions between handheld and tripod-based shooting without requiring tools or additional mounting hardware.

The CB75 is available as a standalone unit or as part of a kit (model 5248), which includes the HawkLock plate. The standalone battery is priced at $159.99 USD, while the full kit retails for $174.99 USD.
