Ulanzi Introduces GlideGo JJ05 and JJ06 Tripods
Ulanzi has introduced two new models in its GlideGo tripod series, the JJ05 and JJ06, designed for photographers and videographers seeking portable yet stable support systems. Both tripods share a similar core structure but are optimized for different applications: the JJ05 is primarily intended for still photography, featuring a ball head that enables smooth adjustments for static compositions. The JJ06, instead, includes a video head with tilt functionality to accommodate cinematic movements and video recording requirements.
The construction of both tripods combines 3K twill carbon fiber for the legs with CNC-machined aluminum components, offering a balance between low weight and structural rigidity. The JJ05 weighs approximately 1.56 kilograms, while the JJ06 is slightly heavier at around 1.76 kilograms; both models are designed to support equipment loads of up to 18 kilograms. Each tripod features a quick-flip leg locking system and is equipped with a dual-section center column that enables adjustments for both high and low shooting angles, as well as the option to invert the column for overhead or macro compositions.
The GlideGo series incorporates the Chinese company’s Uka quick-release mechanism, a proprietary system that facilitates rapid camera mounting and removal. The system is compatible with Uka and F38 plates, although it does not fully support all Arca-Swiss configurations. A locking mechanism is also included to secure the camera during use. The heads on both models allow 360-degree panning, while the JJ06 adds a tilt range of -50 to +60 degrees, enabling more controlled video movements. Both tripods include dual panoramic adjustment points on the center column and head, which provide incremental rotation for precise framing or panoramic sequences.
The height range differs slightly between the two models. The JJ05 can be extended from approximately 41 centimeters to 184 centimeters, while the JJ06 offers a range from about 44 centimeters to 187 centimeters. When collapsed, the JJ05 measures approximately 48 centimeters and the JJ06 about 51.5 centimeters, making both suitable for travel and compact storage. The design also includes multiple leg angle settings to adapt to various surfaces and shooting conditions. The inclusion of threaded mounting points on the tripod body allows additional accessories to be attached when required.
A notable feature of the GlideGo series is its dual-stage center column, which can rotate horizontally without removal, allowing for overhead shooting or creative perspectives such as flat lays. This design also enables more dynamic movement when combined with the tripod head’s panning capability, providing functionality similar to that of a slider. The tripod can also support hyperlapse or time-lapse shooting through controlled, incremental adjustments.
The JJ06 includes an additional integrated tool system: a detachable screwdriver handle equipped with multiple bits, which can be used for quick adjustments during shooting sessions. Both tripods are supplied with a carrying bag and strap for transport.
The JJ05 is available at a price of $269 US, and the JJ06 at $299 US.
