Viltrox Broadens X100 System With New Conversion Lenses
Viltrox has expanded its support for Fujifilm’s X100-series cameras with the introduction of new wide and telephoto conversion lenses. These accessories are designed to modify the fixed 23mm f/2 lens found on every X100 model, whose APS-C crop factor produces a 35mm-equivalent field of view. Fujifilm offers its own conversion lenses, but they have not been updated since the X100F generation in 2017 and were developed well before the arrival of the X100VI’s 40-megapixel sensor. They also sit at a relatively high price point, which has helped create space for third-party alternatives.
Viltrox’s new wide conversion lens, the WCL-X100VI, shifts the camera’s field of view from a 35mm equivalent to a 28mm equivalent by applying a 0.8× reduction. The telephoto version, the TCL-X100VI, provides a 1.4× magnification that results in a 50mm-equivalent focal length. Both converters attach directly to the fixed lens by screw mount, and on fourth-generation or newer bodies—including the X100F, X100V, and X100VI—the camera automatically recognizes the attachments and applies appropriate distortion and vignetting corrections. This automatic detection mirrors the behavior of Fujifilm’s own accessories but is now paired with newer optical designs.
Optically, both Viltrox converters use five elements arranged in four groups. The wide converter incorporates two high-refractive-index elements, while the telephoto version adds an extra-low-dispersion component to that configuration. Multi-layer coatings are applied throughout to minimize vignetting and protect the front elements. The WCL-X100VI includes a coating to resist moisture and debris and provides a 49mm filter thread, adding 36.6mm of length to the camera. The TCL-X100VI accepts 67mm filters, adds 45mm of length, and weighs 230 grams, which is a noticeable addition to the weight of the X100VI body.
The telephoto converter holds particular interest when paired with the X100VI’s improved digital teleconverter modes. The camera offers 50mm and 70mm digital crops at 20- and 10-megapixel resolutions respectively: with the optical 1.4× magnification applied on top of these crops, the effective framing extends to approximately 70mm and 100mm equivalents while maintaining the sensor’s corresponding pixel counts.

The WCL-X100VI and TCL-X100VI are now available in black or silver finishes matching the X100-series aesthetic. The wide converter is priced at $159 and the telephoto version at $189, placing both well below Fujifilm’s long-established counterparts while offering compatibility with all X100 models from the original camera through the current X100VI.
