Fujifilm Updates Instax Mini Line with Mini 13

Fujifilm has introduced the Instax Mini 13 instant camera, a minor revision of the Mini 12 released in 2023. The new model maintains the same simplified approach that defines the Instax Mini series, which targets entry-level users with a basic point-and-shoot experience and minimal manual control. The update does not significantly alter the core design or functionality of the camera.

“Our instax™ mini line of mini instant cameras, smartphone printers, and film represents not only an incredible value for our users, but in many cases, it’s a user’s first foray into analog photography,” said Shin Udono, Senior Vice President, Imaging Solutions, FUJIFILM Europe. “Mini 13 is a perfect fit because experimenting with instant photography – trying out new lighting, poses, or scenes (especially by using the new self-timer feature), are all fantastic ways to express oneself artistically and be a part of your art. We’re looking forward to seeing what our community creates with Mini 13!”

The most notable change is the addition of a dual self-timer, offering selectable delays of two or ten seconds. This feature is supported by a small indicator light on the front of the body, which signals the countdown before the shutter is released. Aside from this addition, the camera retains the same operational structure as its predecessor, including lens-based power control, where rotating the lens turns the camera on and activates close-up mode.

The optical system remains unchanged, consisting of a fixed 60mm lens with a two-element design and a minimum focusing distance of approximately 30 centimeters. Close-up mode continues to include parallax correction, aligning the viewfinder with the lens to improve framing accuracy at short distances. Exposure is fully automatic, with shutter speeds ranging from 1/2 to 1/250 second. The built-in flash operates automatically in most conditions, regardless of ambient light, as is typical for this product category.

The camera does not include a tripod mount, but Fujifilm provides a small wedge-shaped accessory that can be attached to the strap and used to stabilize or angle the camera on flat surfaces. Power is supplied by two AA batteries, and there is no digital connectivity or app integration.

From a design perspective, the Mini 13 introduces slight cosmetic changes, including a revised body texture with more pronounced vertical ridges and a metallic logo on the front. The camera will be available in five color options: Dreamy Purple, Frost Blue, Candy Pink, Lagoon Green, and Clay White.

Alongside the camera, Fujifilm has updated its Instax Up smartphone application: the revised version incorporates an AI-based scanning system intended to improve the digitization of printed photos by better isolating the image area and reducing reflections. A new Instax Mini film variant, called Pastel Galaxy, has also been introduced, featuring a decorative frame with a pastel-colored, space-themed design.

The Instax Mini 13 is expected to be available from late June 2026 at a retail price of approximately $94. The Pastel Galaxy film will be released at the same time, priced at around $18 per pack.
