Brightin Star has introduced a Liquid Silver version of its X-Slim 28mm f/2.8, adding a new finish to the full-frame Leica M-mount pancake lens originally released in black in 2023. The optical and mechanical design remains essentially unchanged, with the update limited primarily to the exterior treatment and revised black and red markings.

Compact dimensions remain the defining feature of the X-Slim: the lens extends only 9.9mm from the mount, although its total length reaches 21.5mm because part of the optical assembly protrudes into the camera body. It weighs 125 grams, making it an unusually small option for a full-frame 28mm lens.

The optical construction consists of six elements arranged in five groups, including three high-refractive-index elements and one extra-low-dispersion element. The lens has a fixed 28mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/2.8, while minimum focusing distance is 0.7 meters.

Focusing is entirely manual, although the lens includes rangefinder coupling when mounted directly on compatible Leica M cameras. A small focusing tab is integrated into the ring to assist with adjustments. Despite being designed natively for M-mount, the short profile also allows the lens to be adapted to several mirrorless systems. Brightin Star offers adapter combinations for Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E, Fujifilm X, L-mount and Fujifilm GFX cameras, although using an adapter inevitably increases the overall dimensions.

The main difference from the original version is therefore cosmetic. Instead of the black lacquer exterior and yellow markings of the 2023 model, the new edition uses a satin metallic finish with black and red lettering.
