Fujifilm has announced the Instax Pal 2, a compact digital camera and a substantial redesign of the original Instax Pal released in 2024. Where the first model adopted an unconventional rounded form that divided opinion, the Pal 2 moves toward a more recognizable aesthetic: a squat, miniaturized body that references the proportions of a classic film camera, complete with a built-in optical viewfinder — an element entirely absent from its predecessor.

The Pal 2 remains a digital camera rather than an instant film device, which sets it apart from most of the Instax lineup. It does not expose or eject film directly; instead, it captures digital files that can be transferred wirelessly to the Instax Pal companion app via Bluetooth, where they can be edited with filters, text overlays, and stickers before being sent to a compatible Instax wireless printer or Evo hybrid camera. The app also functions as a remote shutter release. A microSD card slot is present for local storage, and the top panel incorporates a small screen for image review and framing. The Pal 2 supports multiple Instax film formats for printing — Mini, Square, and Wide — as well as frameless output, giving the user control over the final print format independently of the camera itself.

A new Animation mode is included, capturing ten sequential frames and assembling them into a flipbook-style animated sequence. Filter effects are built into the shooting workflow rather than applied only in post. The body is available in black and white.
