Venus Optics Previews Laowa 24mm f/2 Tilt-Shift Lens
Venus Optics has introduced the Laowa FF II TS 24mm f/2 C-Dreamer, a manual-focus tilt-shift lens designed for full-frame and medium-format mirrorless cameras. The lens combines a 24mm wide-angle focal length with an f/2 maximum aperture, an unusual specification for tilt-shift optics, which generally have maximum apertures of f/3.5 or f/4.
The lens provides up to 12mm of shift in either direction and 10 degrees of tilt, allowing photographers to control perspective and the orientation of the plane of focus independently. Shift movements are primarily used to correct converging vertical lines in architectural photography, while tilt can extend the apparent depth of field or produce selective-focus effects. The relatively large f/2 aperture also allows the lens to be used in lower-light conditions without requiring the same exposure settings as slower tilt-shift designs.
Optically, the 24mm f/2 consists of 13 elements arranged in 10 groups, including five extra-low dispersion elements, two aspherical elements and four high-refractive-index elements. Its diaphragm has 14 blades, with an aperture range extending to f/22. The lens focuses as close as 25 centimeters and provides a maximum magnification of approximately 0.19x.
The optical design produces a 67mm image circle, allowing the lens to cover full-frame sensors while retaining movement capabilities on larger medium-format systems. According to Venus Optics, the full ±12mm shift range and ±10-degree tilt adjustment remain available on compatible Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad XCD cameras. A rotating mechanism also allows the orientation of the movements to be adjusted for different compositions.
The lens features a metal housing, a 77mm front filter thread and entirely mechanical focusing and aperture controls. It measures approximately 119mm in length and weighs 860 grams. Mount options include Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, L-mount, Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad XCD.
The lens has already been released in China, where its standard price is 8,499 yuan, following an introductory price of 7,650 yuan. A US launch has been reported for November 5, 2026, at approximately $1,249, although international pricing and availability have not been consistently confirmed across markets.
