Area51 Unveils the Lens and Accessory Holder “Lens Capsule”

The Lens Capsule is a brand-new lens and accessory holder from Area51. It is intended to be strapped to a tripod leg to keep spare lenses or lens-sized tools easily accessible when in the field. The Area51 Tether Company is a relatively new player in the market for photography accessories. Therefore not many people may be familiar with it. Like the well-established and well-known TetherTools brand, the company concentrates on tethering equipment for various situations, including certain carry tools that complement that broad idea.

The Lens Capsule, a little bag with a set of straps that is essentially a gussied-up cup holder, is one of those new additions and is meant to keep lenses close to hand while in the field. The Lens Capsule, according to Area51, is a lens and accessory holder that can hold a spare battery, water bottles, lenses, and more. It is designed to give photographers quick access to different lenses during a shoot without requiring them to constantly rummage through bags or wear those lenses on their hips.

The Lens Capsule aims to transform a tripod from a stabilization device into a storage area. A drawstring is included in the Lens Capsule to keep contents safe, and an adjustable strap securely fastens it to a tripod leg or other item. Additionally, it contains a mesh pocket on the outside for tiny accessories like memory cards.

When paired with mobile tether stations—which, in the absence of a cart, often rely on a tripod with an attached laptop platform—Area51 describes it as very helpful. While a landscape photographer may not find this setup practical, a digital tech or photographer who needs to work in a backlot or other location lacking the luxuries of an enclosed studio may find it helpful.

The Area51 Lens Capsule retails for $20.
