Falcam Launches Find My-Enabled Camera Batteries
Chinese company Falcam has announced the TagBatt, a line of rechargeable camera batteries that integrates Apple Find My tracking technology directly into the battery housing alongside a built-in USB-C charging port. The series launches in two versions — the NP-FZ100 for Sony cameras and the LP-E6 for Canon — with Nikon EN-EL15 and Fujifilm NP-W235 variants confirmed for future release.
The NP-FZ100 version is compatible with a wide range of Sony Alpha and Cinema Line bodies, including the Alpha 1, Alpha 7, and Alpha 9 series, the Alpha 6700, the FX2, FX3, FX30, and the ZV-E1. The LP-E6 version covers numerous Canon EOS mirrorless and DSLR models, including the R5, R5 Mark II, R6 series, R7, C50, and several older EOS DSLR bodies. Each battery is rated at 2,600mAh with 17.43Wh of capacity and includes multiple internal safety protections. Falcam also states that the batteries report charge levels accurately in compatible cameras without generating the low-battery warnings that occasionally affect third-party cells.
The Find My integration allows users to locate a misplaced battery — or the camera in which it is installed — through the Apple Find My app. An audible tone can be triggered when searching in close proximity, which is useful when a battery is buried inside a camera bag or production case. The tracking hardware is embedded within the battery body rather than attached externally, which makes it less immediately visible than a conventional clip-on Bluetooth tracker. Finally, a USB-C port allows the battery to be charged directly without a dedicated charger, though standard external chargers remain compatible.
Both the NP-FZ100 and LP-E6 versions of the Falcam TagBatt are available now at $70 each.
