Godox has announced the iM30Pro, an updated version of its iM30 compact on-camera flash. The new model retains the small form factor and retro styling of the original while adding several features previously unavailable at this price point.

The most significant change is the move from replaceable batteries to an integrated rechargeable lithium cell. The built-in 7.4V 700mAh battery is rated for up to 550 full-power flashes per charge and recharges via USB-C; recycle time is stated at approximately 1.5 seconds. Automatic standby and power-saving functions are also included to extend runtime between charges.

The flash head has been redesigned with a tilt mechanism, replacing the fixed-head configuration of the original iM30: the head can be positioned at 45°, 60°, 75°, and 90°, enabling bounce flash off ceilings and other reflective surfaces — a meaningful addition for indoor and event photography where direct flash produces unflattering results. The original model did not offer this capability.

In terms of exposure control, the iM30Pro supports both Auto and Manual modes. Manual output is adjustable from full power down to 1/128, and the flash also includes S1 and S2 optical receiver modes for use as a secondary unit triggered by another flash source. A guide number of 15 meters at ISO 100 is specified. The front of the unit incorporates a magnetic interface compatible with Godox’s optional MA01 accessory kit, which includes diffusers, grids, and color filters. A color display replaces the simpler readout of the previous model, and a 2.5mm sync port allows wired triggering.
