American company Joby has introduced the HandyPod Clip Extend, a compact support accessory that combines a tabletop tripod, a selfie stick, and a hanging mount into a single device, intended for use with compact cameras, mirrorless cameras, smartphones, and action cameras. The unit weighs 106 grams and is built from a combination of plastic and aluminum alloy.

The accessory operates in three configurations: in selfie stick mode, an integrated five-section extension pole increases the shooting distance, which Joby positions for vlogging, travel photography, and handheld video recording. Folded down, the legs convert the unit into a tabletop tripod suited to livestreams, video calls, and static product photography. The third configuration, which Joby calls Mantis Mode, allows the support to be clamped or suspended from fences, railings, and similar fixtures, providing elevated or low-angle positioning that a conventional tabletop tripod cannot achieve.

Mounting is handled through a standard 1/4-inch thread, compatible with most compact and mirrorless cameras without additional hardware; smartphones and action cameras require separately sold adapters. Maximum load capacity is rated at 1 kilogram, which positions the HandyPod Clip Extend for lightweight setups rather than larger camera and lens combinations.

Several secondary features are built into the body despite its size. A 360-degree ball head allows quick switching between horizontal and vertical orientations, along with tilt adjustment for framing. An integrated cold shoe mount provides an attachment point for small accessories such as LED lights or compact microphones, while a built-in carabiner allows the unit to be clipped to a bag, belt loop, or strap for transport. A separate lanyard attachment point is included for added security during handheld use.
