The Meeting of Two Eyes is part of Kazumasa Harada’s ongoing attempt to observe and contemplate the concept of time through photography.

Fragments of time, illuminated by the sun as it rises in a continuous sequence across every corner of the earth, appear before our eyes, sometimes as physical events and sometimes as perceptual phenomena. Different moments intersect in countless layers, accumulating like sediment. Photography may be the only medium capable of revealing these overlapping cross sections of time and allowing the past and present to become visible within the same space.

For the past several years, Harada has continuously photographed and edited this body of work while staying in cities including Berlin, Paris, Vienna, New York, and Tokyo.

Drawing inspiration from the concept of Two Eyed Seeing as a guide for the editing process, he brings together time as perceived from two distinct perspectives, event and phenomenon. By weaving these viewpoints together, Harada reconstructs them as a single binocular experience of time and as a tangible material presence.

Photography thus becomes a way of examining time not as a linear progression, but as a layered structure in which different moments, places, events, and perceptions remain in constant dialogue.
