Light Lens Lab Unveils the 50mm f/1.9 Rigid-ZS6
Light Lens Lab has announced the 50mm f/1.9 “Rigid-ZS6,” also referred to as the “Super Six,” a new addition to its Rigid Series of lenses for Leica M-mount. The lens is a modern recreation of the Dallmeyer Super Six 50mm f/1.9, a design originating from the optical work of John Henry Dallmeyer, whose lenses from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries remain highly collectible. The optical formula is a double-Gaussian configuration comprising six elements arranged in four groups, a construction historically associated with pronounced bokeh characteristics and a distinctive color response. Light Lens Lab states that while the rendering qualities of the original Super Six have been retained, the design has been revised to improve center sharpness for use on contemporary digital sensors.
The lens is offered in two versions: the standard Rigid-ZS6 is tuned for a more balanced contrast and clarity profile, while the Rigid-ZS6*, distinguished by an asterisk on the lens ring, is a low-contrast variant intended to produce a softer tonal response with greater retention of highlight and shadow detail, approximating a film-like rendering. Both versions share identical core specifications: an aperture range of f/1.9 to f/22 with a preset diaphragm and half-stop increments, a minimum focusing distance of 0.7 meters, and an M-mount quick-change bayonet system.
The Rigid-ZS6 fits within Light Lens Lab’s broader Rigid platform, a mechanical architecture the company describes as a unified housing designed to accommodate multiple historical optical formulas. Two other lenses currently occupy this series — the 50mm f/2 Rigid and the 50mm f/2 Rigid-SPII — with a 50mm f/1.9 S5 and a 50mm f/2 Apochromat reported to be in development.

Physically, the lens measures 45mm in length and 54mm in diameter, with a weight of approximately 263 grams. The outer barrel is brass, with aluminium and brass used for internal components. The filter thread is E39, with an optional A42 clip-on hood available as an accessory. The brass chrome version is priced at $799 in the United States, with shipping scheduled to begin on May 31, 2026.
