Nextorage, a Japanese storage manufacturer, has announced a new portable SSD. The NX-PS1PRO, designed for professional use, claims the fastest transfer speeds in its class.

The Nextorage NX-PS1PRO portable SSD employs the USB-4 interface to provide a strong combination of high performance, stability, and widespread compatibility. According to the business, the tiny drive has a blisteringly fast 3,900 MB/s read speed and 3,800 MB/s write speed, which can significantly cut transfer times for huge data drops and allows filmmakers to edit high definition and high frame rate video directly off of it.

Because of the high speed, Nextorage had to develop a chassis that was both silent and fan-less, while also providing enough cooling to retain performance over extended periods of intense operation. To that aim, the business encased the PCB in two copper heat sinks, along with the SSD, which is attached to a black anodized aluminum heatsink, allowing the drive to effectively cool itself. Nextorage claims that this design results in less thermal throttling.

The NX-PS1PRO also claims to be drop-resistant from a height of 4.2 feet, shock and vibration resistant, and capable of working for over 10,000 cycles. The portable storage device weighs 190 grams and dimensions 59 x 128 x 15 mm.

The Nextorage NX-PS1PRO USB-4 portable SSD comes in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities.
