NiSi Released a Square Filter Holder Kit Exclusively for Ricoh GR III Cameras

In recent years, the usage rate of square filters has been increasing in single-lens reflex cameras and mirrorless cameras. In the scenes such as long exposure work with ND filter and shooting with a difference in brightness on the screen such as sunset/morning sun with half ND filter, it has gained support by street photographers.

Zhuhai-based optical equipment and lens manufacturer NiSi Filters has released a square holder/filter kit for the popular Ricoh GR III high-end digital cameras. This product is a part of the square holder series dedicated to compact cameras following the SONY RX100VII dedicated model released this June. A lineup of 3 types has been added to the smartphone-only “P1 Prosories”.

This holder was designed to make it easy to enjoy filter without compromising compactness even on high-end compact cameras. You can easily use the effects of optical filters such as ND filters and PL filters, as well as square filters of GND filters, with high-end compact cameras.
Although this product is low cost and compact, it uses the same lightweight and durable resin and aluminum as other NiSi high-end products.

  • Designed for Ricoh GR III, Aluminum Alloy construction filter holder
  • Easy to install, Support 360-degree rotation, can hold up to 2 square filters
  • Polarizing Filter can remove the reflection from water or glass. Medium GND8 can have a gradual or interrupted transition from foreground to sky
  • ND filter allows a longer exposure time to capture of true to life color. Natural Night Filter is the best used for night cityscapes or astrophotography

RICOH GR III Starter Kit

Included items: Medium GND8, HD PL (polarizing filter), square holder, special case

Two types of filters are included. “Medium GND8” eliminates bright and dark differences in bright areas such as the sun and sunset, and prevents white spots in the bright sky. “HD PL” (polarization filter) is a filter that can be used in various scenes, such as suppressing reflection of objects and enhancing color contrast.

Included items: Medium GND8, HDPL (polarizing filter), ND8, natural night, square holder, special case

Four types of filters are included. “Medium GND8” eliminates bright and dark differences in bright areas such as the sun and sunset, and prevents white spots in the bright sky. “HD PL” (polarization filter) is a filter that can be used in various scenes, such as suppressing reflection of objects and enhancing color contrast. “ND filter” controls the shutter speed and controls the exposure when it is too bright to squeeze. “Natural Night” makes it easier to reproduce the original color of the subject by cutting off the “light pollution” and yellow and orange light when shooting night scenes.

Some pictures taken with RICOH GR III:

No filter
Use GND If exposure is adjusted to a bus close to the ground, the glass and walls of the building will be overexposed and faded white. By using a GND filter and dimming the window glass with ND, proper exposure can be achieved and colors and textures can be expressed.
No filter
Use of medium GND8 Use a GND filter diagonally along the building line below. While adjusting the exposure to the lower building, the upper building and the sky were dimmed at the ND part of the filter to obtain the proper exposure.
No filter
Use ND8 Shot at f8, shutter speed 1 second, to depict the water trajectory. Shoot without the filter with the same settings. Proper exposure cannot be obtained unless an ND filter is used for long daytime exposure.
