Ricoh Unveils a New Limited GR III Diary Edition

Ricoh has announced the release of a new limited-edition version of their GR III small camera system. The Ricoh GR III Diary Edition is identical to its standard counterpart in terms of specs, but it has a new paint job and a new preset inspired by color negative film photos.

It comes with unique, specially-designed accessories like a leather finger strap that matches the color of the camera body, a ring cap and metallic hot shoe cover completed in a natural silver hue, and a camera case made of unbleached sail cloth with a leather accent. Available in a limited quantity of only 2,000 units worldwide.

The Ricoh GR III Diary Edition introduces a brand-new image-control mode that provides a negative-film finishing touch. This new mode creates an exquisite balance between rich colors and the distinctive discoloration typical of prints made from negative film. It will also be available via firmware update for Ricoh GR III and Ricoh GR IIIx series models.

Warm-gray metallic treatment has been applied to the camera body of the Ricoh GRIII Diary Edition; this treatment was done to reflect the camera’s dependability and quality and ensure a secure grip. With a warm tint that makes it easier for the camera to blend into the surroundings, this finish also provides the impression that it is more than just an imaging device. A dark-brown finish on the grip rubber matches the color of the camera body. When installed, the natural silver ring cap and metallic hot shoe cover highlight the warm-colored camera body and heighten the sensation of quality.

The warm-gray leather finger strap is an unusual addition to this limited-edition set and matches the warm-gray finish of the camera. The strap’s thoughtful design and painstaking stitching, which were made with the utmost care to every detail, increase its air of exclusivity.

An unusual extra is the case, which is constructed of unbleached sailcloth. It has a leather belt that matches the finger strap exactly. Sailcloth was chosen as the material because, with continued use, it will seem richer and more beautiful.

The camera has a brand-new image-control mode that offers a finishing appearance akin to a negative film. This mode creates an amazing balance between rich colors and the distinctively discolored prints produced by utilizing negative film, based on the visual effects available exclusively with negative film.

Another new feature is that, just before its power is turned off, the camera shows the number of pictures taken per day, the total number of pictures recorded, and the firmware version. An original shut-down screen with the embossed product logo is displayed when the camera’s power is turned off. This screen is set against a background with a fabric-like texture and color representing the camera’s body finish.

The Ricoh GR III Diary Edition Special Limited Kit will cost $1,149.95  in late January 2023.
The spring of 2023 is set aside to release the Ricoh GR III Diary Edition (camera body just; no leather hand strap, ring cap, metallic hot shoe cover, or sailcloth case).
