Tokina Unveils Three New Compact Telephoto Mirror Lenses for APS-C Cameras

Tokina, a subsidiary of the international Kenko brand, released three new fixed-aperture manual focus telephoto reflex (mirror) lenses. The new SZ PRO 300mm f/7.1, 600mm f/8, and 900mm lenses from the firm are smaller and lighter than standard telephoto lenses, but they also have a slower aperture and the distinctive donut bokeh that comes with mirrored lenses. The SZ Pro series is the name given to the new glass collection.

“A super-telephoto lens that far exceeds the human field of vision is one of the lenses that many people who have an interchangeable lens camera want next. However, general super-telephoto lenses are surprisingly expensive, heavy and bulky, making them difficult to carry around,” Kenko Tokina writes. “The Tokina SZ PRO series brings together the technologies cultivated by the Tokina brand and applies the technology of a reflecting telescope, making it extremely lightweight and compact, and at a price that even beginners can easily afford.”

Each of the three lenses are available in mounts for Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X and Sony E-mount APS-C camera systems. The manual focus ring for each of the lenses offers 270-degrees of rotation.
