TTArtisan Introduces an AF 56mm f/1.8 Lens for APS-C Cameras

TTArtisan, known for its low-cost lenses that achieve high optical performance and image clarity, claims its new prime lens is “ideal for a variety of photography subjects,” including portraits. On an APS-C image sensor, the 56mm focal length is equivalent to just under 85mm, a popular lens length for portraiture.

The AF 56mm f/1.8 prime lens is now available for Fujifilm X and Sony E-mount cameras. TTArtisan’s official shop also lists a Nikon Z version, but it is presently out of stock and cannot be ordered from approved reseller Pergear.

Nonetheless, based on TTArtisan’s previous offers, there will be little to distinguish the various mounts. The lens is relatively light, weighing between 233 and 245 grams (8.2 to 8.6 ounces) depending on the mount used. The 56mm f/1.8 lens takes 52mm filters and appears to be somewhat short — TTArtisan does not provide accurate physical dimensions on its website.

The lens is made up of ten elements divided into nine groups, as well as a circular aperture diaphragm with nine blades. There are ten elements, including one ultra-low dispersion element and two pieces of high-index glass. The business offers excellent imaging performance, including effective control over chromatic aberrations. Based on TTArtisan’s previous lenses, there is considerable reason to predict strong overall performance.

A stepping motor powers the lens’ autofocus, which can focus as near as 0.5 m (1.6 feet). According to TTArtisan, the lens is entirely compatible with cameras that use eye-detect and face-detect autofocus.

Here are some sample pictures from TTArtisan:

The most notable feature of TTArtisan’s small new APS-C prime lens is its low pricing. Despite having autofocus, the lens costs only $158.
