TTArtisan Unveils the Ultra-Wide 11mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for DSLRs

A new 11mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens for Canon EF and Nikon F-mount cameras has been released by TTArtisan. The company gives DSLRs access to the same lens previously available for numerous mirrorless mounts.

The $215 lens has a diagonal 180-degree field of view that produces unique perspectives and creative distortions. The lens has an all-metal barrel, engraved focus, and depth of field scales. No electronic connection is available between the camera body and the 11mm f/2.8 fisheye lens, which is likewise totally manual.

The 11mm f/2.8 lens comprises 12 elements organized into ten groups, including four high-refractive-index glass components that TTArtisan claims assist in managing distortion and spherical aberrations, resulting in greater sharpness and more accurate picture rendering. Additionally, the lens contains one extra-low dispersion element, which the manufacturer claims helps it deliver higher clarity and color accuracy by reducing color fringing and chromatic aberration.

It should be noted that the optical formula provided by TTArtisan distributor Pergear differs from that claimed by the company for the mirrorless version of the lens that it introduced to Fujifilm GFX cameras last year. According to TTArtisan’s website, the mirrorless lens is made up of 11 components in seven groups. While it features the same four high-refractive-index elements, the extra-low dispersion element is not mentioned. Additionally, the near-focusing distance varies.

The lens’s narrow focusing distance of 25 centimeters (approximately 9.8 inches) on the DSLR version is advertised as unusually close and enables photographers to capture unusual views. According to the mirrorless specification from TTArtisan, the close focusing distance is 0.17 meters or 6.7 inches. Speaking of the aperture ring, the lens features a seven-bladed diaphragm and an aperture range of f/2.8 through f/16, which is consistent with the mirrorless versions of the lens.
