Vivo has announced the X500 series in China, comprising three models: the X500, the X500 Pro, and the X500 Pro Max. All three are built around the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro processor, marking that chip’s commercial debut. The focus of the launch, from an imaging perspective, is the two Pro models, which introduce Vivo’s highest-specification camera hardware to date.

Both the X500 Pro and Pro Max share the same 50-megapixel main camera, using Sony’s Lytia 910 image sensor — a Type 1/1.28 unit equipped with LOFIC technology. LOFIC, which stands for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is a sensor architecture that physically stores excess photoelectric charge rather than discarding it, enabling wider dynamic range at the hardware level. Sony claims the Lytia 910 delivers nearly 17 stops of dynamic range as a result. The main lens on both Pro models is a 24mm equivalent at f/1.57 with Zeiss T* coating. The two models diverge on stabilization: Vivo describes the Pro Max’s OIS as “gimbal-grade,” while the standard Pro’s OIS is rated at approximately half that effectiveness.

The telephoto camera is where the two models separate most significantly. The X500 Pro uses a 64-megapixel Sony Lytia 610 sensor on a Type 1/2 format, with an 85mm equivalent focal length. The X500 Pro Max instead uses a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP0 on a Type 1/1.4 format at the same 85mm equivalent — a substantially larger sensor with a higher resolution count. Both share the same 50-megapixel ultra-wide using a Samsung ISOCELL JN5 on a Type 1/2.75 sensor, covering a 15mm equivalent focal length. A Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra accessory, first introduced with the X300 series, remains compatible and extends reach to a 400mm equivalent.
