The Chinese camera accessory manufacturer ZHIYUN has been developing 3-axis gimbal stabilizers for many years. ZHIYUN recently drew our attention with their LED lights, such as the MOLUS G200 or MOLUS G60 and X100, but the company is now returning to its roots and releasing a new gimbal.

Sadly, ZHIYUN does not state a maximum payload. On its website, the brand only lists compatible cameras. The Canon C70, Sony FX6, and the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro are a handful of the largest supported cameras. However, the lens used also affects how well the setup works, so keep that in mind. According to ZHIYUN, the gimbal can easily manage heavier weights because of its longer arms and more powerful motors.

The gimbal weighs 1.67kg and features a sling grip that permits fine-tuned angle adjustment for accurate movement control and a new flexible wrist rest. The adaptable sling grip’s adjustment to the gimbal’s central axis enables simple switching between the two-handed and sling modes.

Each motor now has built-in balance indication lights to give instant updates on the calibration condition of the balance. Direct shutter control for supported cameras is made possible by Bluetooth communication. The integrated 1.22-inch color touchscreen allows the operator to quickly examine and alter the CRANE 4’s balance and operating mode and access real-time status data.

Moving between landscape and portrait orientations with the quick-release module is simpler. Four 18650 batteries can run for up to 12 hours and can be fully recharged using USB PD fast charging in under two hours. Additionally, the CRANE 4 now has a fill light inspired by ZHIYUN’s smaller gimbals. The compact bi-color light uses 10W and has a CRI of 95+, a CCT range of 2700K–5500K, and a maximum illuminance of 3200 lux (5500K at 0.3m).

Numerous attachments, including remote monitoring, follow-focus motors, and ZHIYUN’s TransMount image transmission technology, are compatible with the HIYUN CRANE 4.
