Nepalese devotees celebrate Khame Jatra by splashing water towards sacrificial buffalo at Hanumate River of Bramayani Temple on the ninth day of the Dashain Festival at Bhaktapur, Nepal on Monday, October 07, 2019.

The famous Khame Jatra is an event that involves running he Buffalo on the streets of Bhaktapur starting from Jho Chen .
Legend says that he buffalo is a symbol of the demon Mahisasur.

The buffalo was intoxicated with alcohol, and men would try to used this to speed the buffalo running. This event comes to the end after sacrificing it on this night at Brahmayani river as a symbol of victory of good over evil. On next day of Vijay Dashami, people from all around the Kathmandu valley comes to Brahmayani river for pilgrimage which has become a major center of attraction of this event.
